The Musée du Louvre is one of the most famous, and one of the oldest, museums in the world.

It is housed in a former palace in the heart of Paris, between the Rue de Rivoli and the River Seine.

Millions of people all over the globe come to the Louvre each year to see the works of artists such as Rembrandt, Renoir, Titian and da Vinci, whose Mona Lisa, possibly the world's most famous painting, is part of the Louvre's collection.

The Nike of Samothrace and the Venus de Milo, two of the most famous sculptures in the world, can be found at the Louvre.

The Louvre's central courtyard lies along the Axe Historique. The courtyard can be recognized by the glass pyramid structure that it contains.

Although it is most famous for its art collection, the Louvre has architectural, archeological and other exhibits.

It is open daily from 09:00 AM until 6:00 PM.
